Hi Bloody, the installation wasn't difficult at all. There's maybe 2 or 3 screws, I can't remember exactly but it took me about 5 minutes. I installed a 2Gb SODIMM too.

I installed Windows 7 from a 4gb SD Card. You can specify, in the BIOS parameters, that you want the computer to boot on the SD Card before booting on the HDD/SSD.

Wow a ssd makes a heck of a difference! It takes my 1000he 1:42 seconds to boot Win 7.

Hi Bloody, It took my 1000HE ~1:20-1:30 to boot Win 7 with the stock Seagate 160gb HDD, so 1:42 looks OK to me depending on what is lauched at startup.

SSD was a very effecient upgrade to me. Not even the system boots way more quicker, everything feels more snappy. For ~109$ for the Vertex 30gb, it was a deal.

i have the same computer with the same setup, from bios to desktop in xubuntu it takes me 25s.

mine can do in 25 sec boot up

Go to msconfig > Boot > then select

No GUI Boot

it will speed up the boot time but you wont see the animation

Cool but 28s boot time from Windows logo to desktop is great, just what about bootup from BIOS to Windows logo! Looooooong time. It's the same on my 1000HE. Looking forward to trying 7 on a dektop machine. It's fine on the netbook but I feel more power is needed!!

hi man... i need some help :P .. i just bought an intel ssd the extreme version... but i keep reading about some tweeks that need to be done during the installation of the OS ... like moving the cache files n stuff like that... did you do any of these??

I can't wait to put a decent SSD in my MSI wind, but they're still too expensive. The kingstons are starting to get interesting. They're 200 bucks for 128 GB now.

How do you get it so the "Select boot sequence" screen doesn't appear? I currently have it so it just picks Windows 7 after 1 second and then boots, but it'd be great to bypass it altogether like you seem to have it set up.

Thanks, I have a couple of questions though if you wouldn't mind answering. Was the SSD easy to install? Also, how did you go about installing Win 7? USB Disc drive, SD card, usb thumb drive, etc.?
