TT F1 race Thruxton 1988,Whitham and Mez Mellor on factory Suzuki GSXR superbikes,Darren Dixon on a RG 500 Suzuki,Trevor Nation on the Norton Rotary and Steve Chambers on his private RC30.Superb stuff.
Remember this season very well and the same year i had the privellage of meeting phil mellor ,jamie whitham and mick grant on a suzuki night at orwell motorcycles in ipswick...fantastic lads and a great night.
I remember watching this race as a 12 year old and remember the two suzukis and followed them both in the mcn i remember the day he died along with Steve Henshaw and thats when i realised the sport had lost two great riders
@mellor3 Hi Tommy, I was a very good friend of yourt dads, and remember him with lots of love and laughs, he was a unique character, and wew travelled to many road race meetings with him. (my then husband raced at the same time as he did) He often came to our house, and once spent Christmas day with us ready to travel to the Plum Pudding race meeting at Croft autodrome. I was at his funeral, which was a very fitting tribute to a great guy who left us far too soon.
Thanks for posting. I was 16 at the time and reckon I went to 88 meeting, definately remember the Norton in its pre-JPS colours and Trevor really used to make to make it howl down the pit straight. Also remember taking my first bird there and standing by the chicane in 89. Bike racing at Thruxton always great even remember the old Townsend Thorensen footbridge, ah great days.
I can remember 'Mez' at Scarborough winning the 'junior 350(heat 1),'junior final','senior 500','1000cc heat2 and coming 3rd in the 1000cc final on the 10th of May 1981.What a guy, he could ride anything!!!!

lotta old nostalgia. I wanna be a rotary designer but hard to find any "hard" data on the design parameters
