Saw this Garibaldi chasing off other fish so I went in to investiagte and he did not want me around either

Male Garibaldi will aggressively protect their nest sites which are basically a mat of algae. I'm guessing that the spot he keeps swimming back to is his nest. One reason why they protect it so fiercely is that other males will sometimes invade and eat the eggs they are protecting. (the females don't protect the nest at all)

This video was taken in La Jolla, Ca ( san Diego) This was a very good/calm day. This area is also slightly protected by a sea wall and I was only at about 30 ft. I am using a Canon S60, noting fancy.

Nope no light on it was only 22 ft down on a sunny day... no need for a flashlight.
