A portion of Bicknell Avenue in Santa Monica is now "green street." The 10 a.m. opening in the 100 block of Bicknell featured a walk-through and explanation of watershed features, including plants, drip irrigation with solar-powered irrigation controller and a simulated rainfall to demonstrate how runoff passes along the road and is "harvested."
The project was funded by the State Water Resources Control Board, the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission and the city's Measure V Clean Beaches and Ocean fund.
