F.I.T. (Fujita Intercept Team) intercepted a night time tornado in Columbus, GA on April 19, 2009 around 11:30pm EST. The 1st part of the video is us punching the core saying "Uh oh, not good!" when the rain quickly stops, the 2nd part is the intercept at I-185 & Macon Rd, the 3rd part is after going 1 mile north to catch our nerves we didn't notice a 2nd funnel cloud move in front of our car, finally the 4th part is a intercept at SR-85/US-27A & Miller Rd of another transformer blowing up right after we stop. Official rating from NWS (National Weather Service) was an EF-2 with peak winds of 115 MPH, at its widest 250 yards, and a damage path of 4 miles long.

  • great video awesome job this may be funny to say but your mom's voice sounds like vicky guerro from the wrestling show wwe friday night smackdown the one that says excuse me on the wrestling show.and she also sounds like roseanne from the roseanne show thats an old time favorite show.

  • I live in Fort Benning and I remember that night, we were up on the scanner all night trying to spot it. It's awesome that you guys are out there risking your own safety to try and bring emergency response times quicker, but you gotta calm down lol

  • i remember this, i live in this area, some scary stuff. Yall are brave people, good job guys.

  • she really does need to try and control herself. i know that's understating the fact that you are intercepting a tornado but she has to learn to control it.

  • Shit I just remembered that night. I live right beside Macon. Luckily it didn't come to close.

  • I love how I heard nothing about this...
