Save Corral Bluffs!

This is a video of the Corral Bluffs archeological section of the Denver Formation and the K/T Boundary, which has been proposed by the El Paso Commissioners as a enduro motorcycle raceway. Corral Bluffs Alliance needs your help to prevent this environmentally, archeologically, and historically important piece of Colorado from turning into a dirt bike race track. The area is home to many Native American artifacts, Petrified Wood, and fossils from alligators, turtles, and the first mammals.

The El Paso County Park Department plans to purchase 522 acres near Colorado Springs to create a 900 acre OHV park. It would damage beautiful, unspoiled land with a minimum of 20 miles of trails for motocross, trials, and long-distance endurance races, as specified in the grant proposal. These aren't just a family out for a weekend enjoying the scenery on their motorbikes, they are racing events.

Please help us in opposing the proposed El Paso County Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Park at Corral Bluffs. To pay for this, they have applied for a grant of $320,000 from the Colorado State Trails Grant Program. An additional $275,000 would come from the fees housing developers pay for the creation of regional parks and another $275,000 would come from Colorado lottery proceeds.

The county has tentatively set 3 planning meetings for April 1, 15 and 29, all at 7 p.m., on the third floor of the county office building at 27 E. Vermijo Ave, in Colorado Springs.

I dont have a problem with bikes, but this is not the place for a track. Ive sen far to many things destroyed by machines. These fossils and artifacts are beautiful. If the bluffs are actually fossilised coral they were probably of great significance to the aboriginal peoples of the area. Fossilised coral is a lithic stone and can be crafted into blades and projectile points. So this area was probably a camp/quarry. There are better places for a track, this area has more educational value.

So, your crystal ball shows you how I'm involved in my community? Or, did you ass-u-me that riding is the only facet of my existence? And, for your info, I ride managed OHV parks and stay on the marked trails.

Seems like you're having a hard time dealing with the fact that not all off-roaders are the stupid, irresponsible, evil people that you so despirately want to believe they are.

Trust me, I'm not the odd man out with my views and you should try more thinking for yourself and less reliance on the media for your conclusions. Did it ever occur to you that they might be wrong? Regardless, your solution of banning is what's wrong with this country. The idea that the rights of some can be sacraficed for the rights of other. You want to take the public out of public lands, so we can enjoy them from the legal fences you've build around them. So much for peaceful coexistance.
