we cannot blame Hiroo Onoda for killing Filipino farmers, stealing their live stocks, etc, because in his mind the war is still not over. its the sad truth for us Filipinos, but my question is, why didn't he wrote in his book about what he did to the locals? that's the only question i have. so WHY?

I bet that there's probably still a old Japanese imperial soldier on his 80-90s still fighting the war in some jungle in in the middle of the pacific ocean, likely in some insignificent island that hasn't been visitied since 1945 or so.

Huwag na lang silang magalit sa mga ponjap at tanggapin na lang nila na puro kurap ang mga kapwa nila pinoy. LOL!

Don't look at it with current morals or ideals. Look at it through "his story". Aka his perspective. Then you can apply your own input. Ever been forced to fight for your life on an island with a few stragglers while the enemy overran you? No? Then shut up and wait till you grow a pair.

All you skeptics are funny
You're not considering Onoda's perspective and circumstances regarding his holdout - as the IJA's fanaticism is literally god-tier, you either die 'honorably' or keep fighting 'till you fall, the latter being likely for Mr. Onoda.
Oh why am I bumbling; all of you are skeptics because you lack empathy and you can't even imagine what shit he went through and you press your ideals on others like Hitler did. Tip: Don't look at history with current morals and ideals.

Onoda was dispatched in the Philippines in December, 1944. He did not participate in the battle of Bataan.

The mop-up operation for the residual Japanese soldiers was carried out more than 100 times in total. It is not innocent farmers that he killed.

I heard there was someone who surrendered in 1990. Some of the islands were never even visited so it is possible there are still soldiers.

You have no idea, who is "partisan", am I right? Coward would surrender, but he was hiding in the jungle for 30 years, because he was loyal to his country. That's called honor.

So this is one of the cowards that participated in the batan death march, tortured American soldiers, and once Americans came back to rescue the POWs this coward ran off and hid in the jungle for 30 years? Yea what a hero
