And yet you don't appear bothered by the fact that over 50 million babies have been exterminated while still in the womb. Odd...
-
@Gibbyboy14 There is no defense for brutally murdering babies---EVER. The Israelites were themselves a band of raping, genocidal marauders and as much savages as any that existed. Calling a neighboring tribe your enemy never justifies infanticide. And celebrating sickening atrocities through song is particularly fucked up---but hey that's just me.

@sweetsweatyfeet And honestly, think about it! If someone killed your children, and all of the children of all your friends, chances are you would be angry at that person, wouldn't you? They didn't have a justice system like we do in modern western culture. You didn't go to court and put the person in jail for 25 years for killing people. They lived in a different culture and time.

@sweetsweatyfeet Did I say anywhere that the Israelites were a bunch of nice guys? Stop putting words in my mouth. The Pre-Christ Judean people lived by the principle 'An Eye for An Eye". You may have heard it before. So yes, they would have desired revenge. And a better translation of that word would probably be blessed, or something similar. Not happy in the sense of singing some little ditty about your best friends and you getting drunk one night and having so much fun.

@Gibbyboy14 Sure--and the Israelites were a pack of nice guys. Nothing makes me want to sing like some vengeful baby head bashing. La la la la lalala---B----A---A---A---S---
H, waahhh, not dead yet?---then B----A---A---A---S---H. Gee the innocent, helpless infants brains are splattered all over--now that's justice. -
@sweetsweatyfeet The Babylonians did that to Israel when they overran the country. The psalm is saying happy will the one be who repays their evil.
-
"Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks."
Nothing like a little baby killing to make one feel good about their tribe.
-
@adamnorten Nope, it's the Jews singing about the year that the Babylonian Empire conquered Israel around 500BC and took them away from their home land in to captivity in what is now modern Iraq (Ancient Babylon). It's about those people remembering their home, Zion, Jerusalem, and weeping, longing to return and be free to worship their God/ Elohim, in Israel.
