Le Bucheron - Franklin Boukaka - English version

Ah e e Africa
Eh e Africa
O Independence!

Ah e e Africa
Eh e Africa
O Freedom

Wood chopping is tough
After chopping, selling is just as tough
With this kind of suffering
With my children, how sad
I won't make

Some for whom I voted
Went only for power
and nice cars

When voting time is here
I become someone
For them

I wonder, the white man did leave Africa
Whose independence did we achieve?
Africa e

Ah e e Africa
Eh e Africa
O independence

  • well, it's been wonderful to listen to that song with english sub-titles along the week, unfortunately it's not available today. Can you fix it?

  • Hi there, bug has been fixed for a while now. Just one of those unavoidable things that would happen now and then. Thanks for tuning.

  • i last heard this song 35 yrs ago growing up in kenya ,it plays at the end of the movie 'viva riva' which i happened to see yesterday i cried because its a beautiful voice and song and it brought back a flood of memories.i cant help thinking that it is true then as it is sadly true today

  • superbe chanson!

  • Merci Franklin. Tu es ma source d'inspiration.

  • pourquoi ces gens ont tué un artiste d'autant de talent à cet age là en plus?

sans doute le meilleur chanteur & musicien de tout les temps du congo brazzaville.

  • Great song, great words,

sad they are still so true 40 years later.

And we Africans are to blame, yes!

For many of us still believe that freedom and true independence will be given to us by some Messianic Western country or some benevolent international organisation,

When our History tells us loudly the contrary!

Until Africans stand up to fight to death for their freedom and independence; neo-colonialism, the modern Slavery, will continue to cripple Africa

  • This song always brought tears to my eyes, even when all I could understand was the cry for liberty...Now I can cry and wail, because I know the full meaning!

    Thank you so much 22matsoua!

  • Ahhhh les émotions qui coule lorsque j'écoute cette pièce magnifique!
