UKS Culture Show 2008: Robam Khaen

Robam Khaen is a folk dance that originated in Cambodia's Stung Treng Province located in the Northwest part of the country. It is normally performed at weddings and New Year's festivities. This dance shows the courtship between male and female dancers as the men use the khaen instrument to call out flirtatiously to the women.

aye man give them a break. they're not professionals and most have never danced Khmer traditional dances at all. it takes a long time for your hands and body to get flexible, we only had a month. i think they did pretty well.

as a ucla alum and former officer, i just want to comment on how far the club has gone. we used to be called ucs, did our culture show in bradley hall, then some lecture hall, then what's the place called near the dining halls?, and now freud playhouse. and we've increased in membership. so cool! so even if there needs to be more practice, yadda yadda, it isn't easy to put on a culture show and i applaud you guys. keep up the great work.
