Fired up my 1974 Ludwig "Bonham" kit today. 3-Ply, 26/16/14 set in red/silver/blue sparkle finish with mid-'70s 6 1/2 x 14 chrome Supraphonic snare. This is the 2nd bicentennial kit I've owned and the only one I've seen with a 26" bass drum. Haven't played since this past Feb, so I am a little rusty...Although I need to tune them up, this kit sounds glorious and is in my opinion the only way to go if you want to "touch the hem of the cloth", so to speak.

  • LOVE THAT KIT WHAT CYMBALS ARE THEY

  • @IstanbulCymbals80 The cymbals are a hodge podge of stuff collected over the years: Vintage Paiste 2002 22" ride, Vintage Sabian HI Hats, newer 2002 & giant beat crashes. I've switched to a full set of Giant Beat Reissues...

  • Sounds like The Song Remains The Same! =) Awesome 3-ply Luddy! Do these have reinforcement rings? What you do you think of the sound of 6/7 ply Ludwig Classic Maples? Thx

  • Man, I meant to say 9 ply! Ooops!! ;P

  • @BONHZEPPELIN You're right, these are early 70's 3-ply shells. the best Ludwig ever made, imo.

  • @BONHZEPPELIN Can't comment on 6/7 plys, never played them. I'm sure they sound good as most Ludwigs so. This set is gone btw. I've got a Vintage Ludwig "Mutt" kit with a '69 3-ply 26"...

  • Hell of a kit..I travel around kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma with my Ludwig 26 set..some people say its not worth the extra hastle but i promise ill never go back to a 22 anytime soon..love the sound

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX I'm gonna disagree their man, my 20 depth sounds amazing. And I have heard a sonor designer series 20x22depth bass drum that was literally the best sounding drum I have ever heard. and no triggers. and no effects because I heard it personally.

  • @axedstoninst Vinnie doesn't pull it off nicely bro. He triggers his drums because they sound so bad. Bass drums that are so deep simply don't have the tonal characteristics that a good drum should. Anything deeper than 18" sound crap IMO.

  • That is a big ass bass drum

  • @philgecko vinnie paul pulls it off rather nicely, personally i'm a fan of 20 inch with the 22 depth, or 20 by 20, sounds epic.

  • awesome kit, if you ever think of selling these, let me know ;-)

  • song remains the samee at the beginning theree

  • WOW! I want one! that sounds huge!

  • AMERICA
