Only aired once on March 19, 1977. Also included is the syndicated version of the close.

Please note: ALL Credit goes to user MTMFan for sending this clip to JAldridge86 and they for uploading it.

I've taken their clip and cleaned up the audio a bit and provided a mirror upload here (in case theirs gets deleted by YT.)

  • I read that Mary Tyler Moore wanted to end the series before the ratings dropped ... while everyone was still at the top of their game ... writers, producers, actors, etc. I've seen many episodes on dvd and I think it's one of the best series ever. Much better than most situation comedies on the air today. Thanks for posting the final curtain call, I never saw this before.

  • @Chuck1974 Actually, that's not true. It was the writers who decided to end. Mary has said recently (on Mark Simone's show in NYC) that she would've loved to have gone a couple more years. Sadly, the writers never, in my opinion, matched the greatness of this show with the chemistry of the players so well defined. So, we'll never know for sure, but I think they should've continued a bit more.

  • I love that Valerie and Cloris were on the last episode, and were around for the final curtain call.

  • @humbleradio tvland mad BAD moves...give it until SEPT 2012.....You will see a change.

  • @TheMashwatcher585 i agree!

  • is this part on DVD now?? I know there was a lot of complaining because it was NOT at first!

  • I believe that is Mary's real dad at 0:30 .... he stands up and claps as the camera pans the audience.

She said in a recent New York Times interview that he was in the first row, tall with white hair.

She said her parents attended all of the MTM shows and the Dick Van Dyke shows as well.

  • I love the beautiful arrangement that Patrick Williams does of Sonny Curtis'

song for the end credits. the horn player holds that last note for 7 BARS - Awesome !!!

  • When the episode was repeated for the final time on the network [September 3, 1977], the "regular" closing credits [1:23] replaced it- right into syndication and into the present day.

  • @SHRINA17 I wonder if they get the big "yea!" not so much because they were all the male actors, but rather because those three were with the show from start to finish--unlike Betty, Georgia, Valerie, and Cloris, who were there for part of the show's history, but not the whole way. I think he's just giving those actors that little extra acknowledgement. Just a guess.

  • Best sitcom ever!

  • I am so glad this has been posted on Youtube because i like many have the dvd which advertises the final curtain call...yet it isnt on there.I had all 7 series shipped to England because this is one of the best sit-coms of them all with so many great individual characters.Sadly they dont make television like this anymore.
