The young eagle moves too fast for my camera to capture well, but this still shows two interesting aspects of the fledgling's development. First, he or she is learning the hard way that cedar trees don't make good perches. The branches are too flimsy and too dense, making it hard to turn around and launch. Second, they can fly quietly when they want to. This fledgling might have been startled to see me, and remained quiet during flight, when they have usually been very noisy.
