This is video from a police car's dash-cam that shows Tennessee State Troopers shooting a North Carolina family's dog (around 3:03 in the video). It happened while the family was returning from their vacation in Nashville. Police say they stopped them because they "matched the description" in a robbery that had just occurred (they were actually incident). The officer who shot the dog (Eric Hall) hasn't been punished for the episode; he has only been reassigned to "administrative duties". The Tennessee Department of Safety issued an apology here: http://tennessee.gov/safety/newsreleases/2003/statement.html

Here is the account of what happened from the point-of-view of Eric Hall: "I yelled at the dog to 'get back' but it attempted to circle me to attack, so I felt that I had no other option but to protect myself."

Here is the account of what happened from the point-of-view of the family: "My dog then came out of the car and ran towards the officer with the shotgun and flashlight. We started yelling to please let us get him, don't shoot, he was only barking at the flashlight and jumping at the light. My son plays with him using a flashlight. This is when my dog was murdered."

  • That's why I hate cops

  • Damn the motherfucker!!! Hope he burns in hell!!!!

  • @bongchoker No, I think the should go to his hous and blow HIS brains out. not his dog

  • ;(

  • I think they should go to that cop's house and blow his dog's brains out in front of him (if he has one) I am so sick of cops being let off for shit like this! Let that piece of shit flip burgers and scoop fries for the rest of his life!!!

  • Speaking to The Split second decisions, Ok Immediately when the threat is At a controllable level, Put Their Thinking caps BACK On & "Dont Judge BY What You "DON'T KNOW"

'STOP' FOR Just A Minuet "PLEASE" !! Their Are People, Granted Not Many, BUT Their are Times In some Situations, The :POLICE make judgments, ON That past experiences! IE If U get stopped and < say U Have A word finding problem, the hesitation in Ur reply automatically They Think Ur trying to make up a lie, Or Deceive ?

  • @RomansGalatians I deliver for a living. Every day I deal with dogs "charging" me but unlike the brave police officer in this video I have yet resorted to killing any dogs. The people begged the officers to allow them to close the door but were denied. The dog jumped out and anyone with half a brain can see it was running around in a circle enjoying being loose. It wasn't "charging" anyone.

  • @kanawa For some reason, you think that the cops should KNOW that the robbery call was not valid.

I take back what I said before, because I thought they were criminals and I have absolutely no compassion for criminals or anything about them. But even still, it was an unfortunate event.

Just think, if they were armed robbers (as was reported to the officers) would you let them run after their dog? You're just unreasonnable.

  • @kanawa It was very unfortunate, but what the hell. Put yourself in his shoes for once. You don't know if that dog isn't a vicious pit bull or not.

Keep in mind that cops tend to see so much shit that they assume intensity when they pull over a car fitting the description of robbers. Basically cops don't get called excepting when shit's going down. So cut him some slack.

  • @kanawa "Cowardly cop." What a criminally minded fool you are.

How about this: Next time some murderers are on the loose, YOU go out and pull over a car in the middle of the night fitting the description. You don't have the slightest idea about the trauma that these guys deal with on a weekly basis. Everyday seeing shit that you've seen once or never in your life.

The damn dog was charging him. I would ask "what would you do," but you would be sitting on your sofa while they fight bad guys
