Record Box Jumps by Parkour Mumbai traceurs.
Hanuman manages 54" and attempts the world record of 56".

On International Parkour Day on Jun 5, 2011 (actually the day was on the 4th but we celebrated it the next day), Parkour Mumbai practitioners got together to try and set some Standing Box Jump records. We were hoping to capture the crazy flying Hanuman get a 52 inch box jump, but we were rewarded with a 56 inch attempt instead, with several other guys also setting impressive figures.

Now 56 inches, if the landing is stuck and balanced, is a World Record for Standing Box Jumps. Possibly a Guiness World Record as well.
We're pretty sure that if Hanuman trains a bit more, he can go all the way to 60, seeing as his 56" attempt still looked easy, and considering the circumstances under which he set the record.

The figures of the jumps are -
NOS and Zeeshan attempted a 50, but did not manage to stick it.
Nirmit stuck a 52", and attempted a 54" jump.
Hanuman stuck a 54", and attempted the world record of 56", almost sticking it.

All the people who attempted and got their feet up on top, but did not stick it, would have gotten it given a few more attempts. But we were short on time, and had to keep moving on.

  • Narayan's technique is better than Nimit's. He should drive his knees up fast, keeping his feet close to gain an inch or two.

  • Arko,

Their techniques are dependent on their individual anthropomety. Nirmit's lower limbs are longer than the rest of us, his femur is also longer than normal. Which is why he cannot keep his legs adducted while tucking or they will crash into the wall.

This is also why taller people in general are not well-suited to the kind of activities involved in sports like Parkour or Gymnastics.

  • @parkourmumbai Why can't taller people just start the jump a little away from the wall? That wont ruin their range because everything would be proportional.

  • I just let them find their own comfort zone.

Besides, a high box jump from further behind is not really feasible - more distance to travel in front. Try doing it sometime and see.

  • @parkourmumbai

there's a lot of really talented tall traceurs though, although not so many tall gymnasts

i guess there's advantages and disadvantages that come with every human body

  • @parkourmumbai Yeah but I'm talking about tall people. Their larger size and strength would compensate for the increased distance in front. (Imagine this video scaled up by 10% of it's original size).

I like the fact that you let them find their own comfort zone.

  • keep it up , indian traceurs

  • Beautiful bro... Indian here.

Sharing this, this was just brilliant. I hope you get the WR. I'm rooting for you!
