Update :- I went down to Brooklands last weekend (Oct 1st) for the Viscount day they had there. I also managed to get aboard 'Superb' for a look round and a chat with the guy's that look after her. I'm sad to report that these engine runs are now no longer possible due to the fact that Rolls Royce are the only one's that can service and maintain the mighty Tynes, and they no longer carry parts for them. If you ever get chance to go to Brooklands I highly recomend it, it's a fantastic place!

Not only have I just died and gone straight to heaven, but . . . . I think a little bit of wee just came out too.

The RR Tyne was a mighty engine.

The last time I heard a sound like that was when I was 7 years old in 1971 at Sydney Airport near Victoria BC although the plane I saw was probably a Viscount the tail was rounded as I remember it with the red Air Canada logo on it. I beleive it was its last year of service with Air Canada. I also remember seeng them at the Vancouver Airport as well. It was the cool sound of its RR turbine engines that stood out most its too bad they never had the longevity that their piston predecessors had.

Hi Proplinerman
Just found the vid you posted to me...was looking at conis for a while then found this ....WOW .makes the hairs on my back stand up...Just wish I had been there...Send me a message if you get to know of the next engine run...If I had a starter motor or two you'd have them already...(when I win the lottery I want this a/c flying again really)

The starter motors on the other two engines are shot and they can't get replacements or parts, tho they are looking for them.
