In the original studio recordingThe 'woman' in the background singing "where did the rainbows end".....is no other than Joni Mitchell and the very distinctive piano style was of Carole King's. I believe there is a third woman on background vocals who could be either Linda Ronstadt or Emmy Lou Harris. This combination of so many talents in one relatively short song makes this one of his finest...IMHO.

Long ago and far away I put my two year old daughter in the stool, pulled it up to the kitchen counter and put this song on. "This is James Taylor," I told her, "He's one of Daddy's favorites." As the song played her eyes brimmed with tears which soon overflowed. That touched my heart. She is grown now, She doesn't cry much anymore... but now I do. Crazy life.
