Hi guys.
Thought I'd do up a 40GB PS3 how-to as there don't seem to be too many on the net, and a fair few people flood the 60GB videos with questions on the 40GB (sorry to all the 80GB people, haven't done the 80GB PS3 yet!).

I hope this video helps a lot of people out just as the 60GB videos helped me out.

Rate, comment, & subscribe if it was helpful.

PS: Sorry about the fair quality of the video... and the angle at times isn't the best for people to see. But there's plenty of info on the 60GB videos anyway on how to remove certain bits and pieces which can be applied to the 40GB.

All the best!

This video is incomplete, something went wrong with the recording onto the PC... Just do the rest in reverse order to the disassembly. If enough request is made, I'll re-do the video to include the rest of the re-assembly.

  • @daltonpatterson98 You're welcome. To be totally honest with you I'm not sure, I haven't had a 40/60/80gb ps3 for a long time and haven't repaired any for a long time as well. Sorry.

  • What do u need to heat up before you apply the compound?

  • @RialtosAnonymous1 hello, please refer to gilksy1's video, he has done it pretty well. I think the info is in part 4 of his 60gb tutorial

  • erm what if we get ylod from a flight of stiars oh idk let say my ps3 was thrown 14 steps down( carpet) but i look everything inside and there were no cracks on the board nothing broken unplugged from what i can tell i dont think thermal compound could fix it by any chance =P if you guys can help in what i can do to fix it my self i would

  • @homie3213 lol, sorry I've never come across that one. Ummm... maybe a hard drive problem? (Just guessing here) I don't know honestly, I'm not all that familiar with different PS3 faults. I've only ever worked on the re-flow/thermal compound combo
