Obama: Cambridge Cops "Acted Stupidly" In Prof. Gates Arrest

At the end of a primetime news conference, mostly revolving around President Obama's health care reform bill, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Lynn Sweet asks him about race relations in America. He says that "the Cambridge police acted stupidly" in arresting Professor Henry Louis Gates in his own home, which he broke into after forgetting his keys. It is believed that both Obama as well as Gates suspect racial profiling in the arrest.

Obama also joked that he wouldn't break into his own current place of residence like Gates would, because, "Then I'd get shot."

first off why would Obama be in my house and secondly yes if anyone assaults me in my house though i haven't doe anything, i will retaliate because it is my right! bottom line is no officer should step over their power to be an officer period. i do not idolize anyone.. i appreciate the good things obama does but i dont idolize him or go crazy because he is black president and you best believe ill put him back to his spot if he step over the line in my home!

Obama, isn't it true you used to go to Harvard in Cambridge and lived in Somerville? So you should know these are some of the most diverse neighborhoods. GUYS why would the cops be racist. They talk to and interact with tons of different races. We aren't a white-bread city!
