I learned "A Land of Rest" from singing at my church. The melody is a traditional American folk melody. I am always struck by the beauty and majesty of the music we call "Folk Hymns".
This collection of photographs were taken by my wife and I on our travels. The last photos are from my seat at the Obama Inauguration. Thanks to my family, I had the opportunity of watching a new president be sworn into office, along with two million other Americans.
Here comes summer again! Hope it's not too hot this time... Hope the earth can hold fast. Hope you and yours have a wonderful year. Thanks for such a magical song... I would like to see Yellowstone this year and I hope you do too. Whatever hapens I hope you love it as much as I do... much love people, I love this place!!!

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (March 20, Lent 2), we sang a hymn to this tune as the Hymn of the Day. It is This Is the Spirit's Entry Now. It was written by Thomas E. Herbranson. It is #448 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

Hi Ed, I was looking for some Dulcimer music and found your tune, A Land of Rest by you and friends. Ya'll did a great job playing. So smooth and calming. I would like to use in on a slide show I want to make for my family from photos I made when it came a rare snow fall here in early December. I am trying to learn how to do this on the computer. Anyway I wonder if you have any more tunes like Land of Rest that you have put on YouTube and can tell me how to find them. Thanks again. Great music.
