Shawn thank you for the great videos I just want to say you look great. Me myself had plans on getting the same surgery done untill my health insurance denied it they first they said I was approved for the surgery Than they sent me a letter the very next day saying it wasn't a covered benefit on my health plan how sad To think I went all this trouble to get braces find a full time job with benefits just to get denied the surgery Soo Sad.

DO NOT GIVE UP! I was denied several times. You need to get your doctors office to stress that it is not cosmetic!

Thank you for your series, great job. My bite is not so extreme, but I need the surgery for a perfect bite. The only thing I'm worried about is permanent numbness. Does anyone have any stories or statistics about this?

not really. It is the most common thing thought. I'd say that 97% of my feeling has returned and it was worth it all!

Thank you so much for posting these! I'm a senior in high school going to have both jaws done less than a month from now and I'm getting increasingly worried about the surgery. I'm scared, but excited to have it done because my jaws and chin have bothered me all my life. I'm very tiny and love to eat, so that liquid diet doesn't sound too awesome. haha But thanks for the helpful tips! It helps to know I'm not alone and that if you did it, I can. :) Congrats on toughing it out!

@Urqbon I had to wait a year and a half before they approved the surgery. long story short, there were lawyers involved. but, seriously, don't give up. it's a long process.

wow--you look great!! im so happy for you. i had the surgery about 20 years ago---age 21, i was so happy to see the difference, made me feel a lot more confident about myself. people dont even know i had it done. i had bad overbite and recessed jaw. looked bad. im really happy for you!!
