12 year old Siobhan Owen singing My Lagan Love at the Adelaide Festival Theatre for the 2006 Catholic Schools Music Festival, to an audience of about 2,500. Siobhan was very nervous, but still performed beautifully!

  • Hard to believe this is being sung by a 12 year old! Mature voice beyond her 12 years and looks about 15 or 16.

A really lovely voice and can only imagine what she will be able to sing as she gets older when her voice is already so good!

None of my friends or girls at school, (including myself) looked this mature at 12. :-))) We all looked probably like 10 when we were 12 even though we wished we looked older.....or had such talent!

  • Siobhan is now 15 and still singing beautifully! She now also plays harp. Check out her latest videos on the sharbas channel.

  • @folkmusicgirl well, she doesn´t look like 12 because of her cleavage and make-up. which is inappropriate for such a child (child!!) i wouldn´t have wanted my girls (24 and 27 now) to look like that with 12. look again and be honest: it looks "cheap"

b..t.w.: apart from one false note (at 1:20 and 2:50) it is a perfect copy of liam devally´s interpretation (which the chieftains with. v. morisson covered perfectly))

  • @barmbrackthecat well to be honest: i heard about 25 versions, but none can compare with van morrison and the chieftains. (and he sings it nearly 100% like liam devally) listen to that (try grooveshark, no good version here) and please write to me what you think. a rare version with a male voice....

  • well, apart from the question why a 12 year old child must war such a neckline (cleavage ??) and a make-up with lipstick which is totally inappropriate...

the interpretation is nearly 100 per cent chieftains and van morrison, which is not a mistake.

really a fine and astonishing voice. only one false tone at 1:20 (lennAN shee)which is repeated at 2:50 (singING stone)which spoils the melody and chords.

this is my opinion, and i want to ask politely not to write insults for that, OK?

  • I could see the nervousness before you sang lol. Been there before. I sang with Al Martino when I was 13 at Camp. His daughter went to the same camp. He heard me singing Danny Boy. He started harmonizing under me. I was scared to death when he asked me if he could join me on stage. But, it worked.

  • She actually sounds more like a 12 year old. She's a bit nasally and breathless. But thank God her voice isn't over developed at a young age. I'm sure she sound great when she's gets older.

  • AMAZING! Can't wait to see you siobhan!

  • yes it is a great rendition but your taste must be in your arse if you think Sinead O'Connor's version awful............It's one of the best version's ever and a bit more authentic than you........

  • wonderful.

  • Lovely rendering. Reminds me of myself singing the same song at the same age. One of my Sligo father's favorites. So much more authentic than the awful version by Sinead O'Connor.
