A short clip of the first time I ever saw Bambu Tambu played in the streets of Port of Spain Trinidad. A lost part of Carnival revived and included by Peter Minshall.
I was aware of this early music played on bamboo poles. This led on to playing on the steel pan.

  • I heard my father speak of this whem I was a boy about 6. That was about 1953. He described "Tambu Bamboo", but I had never seen nor heard it.

I recall he said that there were really tall ones which provided the bass, and that the players hit the bamboo at the side with a stick and at the same time, hit the ground with it, fermenting rich rhythms. Thank you for sharing.. KR
