The H- Bomb Operation IVY Mike 1952

Ivy Mike was the code name given to the first successful test of a fusion device, detonated on October 31, 1952 (US time — November 1 local time) by the United States on Enewetak, an atoll in the Pacific Ocean, as part of Operation Ivy. The device was the first full test of the Teller-Ulam design for a "staged" fusion bomb.

Due to its physical size and fusion fuel type (cryogenic liquid deuterium) the Mike device was not itself suitable for use as a thermonuclear weapon. A simplified and lightened bomb version (the EC-16) was prepared, and scheduled to be tested in Castle Yankee, as a backup in case the non-cryogenic "Shrimp" fusion device (tested in Castle Bravo) failed to work; that test was cancelled when the Bravo device was successful.

Edward Teller was not at the Ivy MIke shot. He was in the US doing an experiment at the time. He did shine a spot of light on a wall at the time of detenation to see if it would move from the shock.

I gurentee you without nuclear weapons today's Europe would most lickley be filled with landmines and artillery creators. 12 year olds walking around with machine guns hoping they survive the day without a bomb landing on them. You know why?

ok umm retard. if you have not noticed thermal nuclear weapons have been a live for the past 60 years. Two of the most "war loving" countries (USA, USSR) had them and they never used them. Yes US did use it in Japan, but that is a whole diffrent story and side to this subject.

Do you know how many wars there would have been and how many dead without these weapons? If we didn't have them the technology we have to today with conventional weapons would have wiped out the earth.
