Are you aware? This contest asks for videos about raising awareness for a cause which is important for the video maker. In my case I wanted to show the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, because I know most people are not aware of this event. The Hungarian Revolution of 1956 was a spontaneous nationwide revolt against the government of the People's Republic of Hungary and its Soviet-imposed policies, lasting from 23 October until 10 November 1956.

My aim was to show people how this dictatorship worked in the Soviet Union, and how bad people were treated not just in Hungary, but in every country among the union. Other countries in the west didn't help us, because they thought this was the soviet army's problem, and because of the cold war they were afraid to interfere.

Meanwhile on the Olympic Games Hungary couldn't win against the soviets, because of injustice, although when they got a non-soviet judge they became the winners. The match where one of the players was hit by a soviet is true, you can search for it: Blood in the water.

I didn't mean to do a video against the soviets, these are just the facts of the history, and to tell the truth I'm so fascinated by the Russian language, that I decided to study it in Uni. I just want everyone to be aware of these events, and Hungary, because I bet not many of you know about this little country in the middle of Europe. About our capital, about how we love our country, about how the people are here. Lately we had such a negative press, I guess people can only remember that ones, especially outside of Europe.

That's all I wanted to say, and I hope you got the message of the video, if you have any questions you can ask.

i didn't really use any effects for the vid, i don't think it is important here, but at the beginning i wanted everyone to notice the importance of the color red!

The song which I used is a Hungarian song: Kiscsillag -- Menetszél, and the movie I used is one of the best Hungarian movies ever, I'm sure you can watch it with subtitle somewhere: Szabadság, Szerelem. (at the end you can hear a part of the Hungarian anthem)

  • Your nation is wonderful and suffered a lot. Hungarians courage during the revolution is stunning. This movie is so realistic and fantastic, everyone should see it !. Poland will always support our brothers and sisters from Hungarian and for us these events won't be forgotten.

but i'm not trying to cause any problem, you can find the facts in the history books, this video is not against America or Russia, i love both of them believe me! :) we can't change the history, but we can help now, in the present each other, to avoid dictatorships like that one in the vid!

i know other countries tried to help, America with the Marshall-plan, but in the Warshaw pact, we couldn't accept it, because the Soviets didn't allow us, but it is very comlipated, and after a little time we were alloved to have a little indepence, they said we had a better life than other sheds in the Warshaw pact. i also wish you had the chance to learn more about history, it is very fascinating, and also very sad sometimes, but we have to learn from these mistakes :)

  • @KCTerra I know you're not, I just didn't want you thinking America ruled the world... they simply were trying to help countries like yours :) & exactly right, in order to prevent the past you gotta know what caused it. But watching this video I had no idea Hungary was like that in 1956. I wish our history books said something about it ;)

  • @theHowlingWolf

thanks, i'm glad you liked it here, and that you are aware of this revolution :D

  • wrote a report on the Hungarian Revolution in ninth grade, so I'm glad that you try and raise awareness among others as well. been to Hungary once and I absolutely loved it :)

  • @letswrite2711

believe me, if you were a Hungarian you would know what i'm talking about; America and the Soviet Uunion in a kind of way ruled the world, everything depended on these two, if something went wrong in America, the whole world struggled because of it, and this is still true, if you remember the bank crash which was very recently, we are still trying to get out of this crisis. and no, America didn't help us in 1956, because they were in Egypt, if i remember correctly.
