Los Angeles County Fire Department Engine 127 returning to quarters. This is the station that was used to represent LACoFD Station 51 in the 1970s TV show Emergency! The interior of the station is nearly identical to how it was in the TV show, right down to the wooden cabinets in the changing room. I made a pilgrimage to L.A. during Labor Day weekend 2010 to see and pay homage to this station. The on-duty fire fighters were great -- they answered all my questions, and let me spend as long as I wanted in the station.

  • do you know how many calls the engine gets?

  • @firefighter1229 Hi and thanks for the question. According to LACountyFire, Light Force 127 (composed of Engine 127 and Quint 127) went on 1,426 runs during 2007 (the most recent year of runs shown on the site). This translates into an average of 3.9 runs per day. LF 127 was the 172nd busiest company in the department during 2007, out of 540 radio designated companies.

  • @ColinFWheeler so the engine and truck go on runs together? so they have about 6 people at the station at a time?

  • @firefighter1229 Yes, they both go on runs together. I'm not sure how many firefighters are assigned to the station ... I think it's not a full 8 (4+4) ... so it might be 6 or 7. Do any LACoFD employees know the answer?

  • whats parked behind E127?

  • @dodgerfan2004 Hi and thanks for the question. That's Foam 127. It's a Mack Foam Unit. The FF who gave me the station tour explained to me that its operation is partly paid for by the BP refinery across the street.

  • @firefighter1229 Engine 51, KMG365!

  • WHERE WAS THE GROUND GUIDE WHEN THAT ENGINE WAS BEING BACK IN

  • @ColinFWheeler

I'm not a Firefighter, but I'm married to one that's stationed at 127

  • Today, July 9, we had a Celebration at Station 127 in Carson, the museum brought out Engine 51, paramedic, and ambulance. Got to see Mr. Mantooth and Mr. Stoker, it looked like easily over 1,000 people attended. L.A. County Fire's new Fire Chief Osby attended too, it was hot out, but well worth it, the L.A. County Fire Museum and all the Firefighters and sponsers did an awesome job. The Chopper, HazMat, Incident Command and USAR rigs were all there.

  • @firefighter1229

they have a 6 person team per shift and they've been getting an average of 6 calls a day, slower on the weekends sometimes because they are in an industrial area it tends to be slower
