The instrumental part was used in the LA scene for the "Godfather". For years I'd mind hear it and watch reruns just to refresh the tune. Finally I found out about You Tube and could quit therapy. Thanks to whomever!

There was no vocal either...VERY clever to use a Tommy Dorsey tune to accent the Johnny Fontaine character...While historically, there is NO connection to Sinatra getting the part in "From Here To Eternity" THAT way! FS actually remained friends with Tommmy Dorsey and even worked together in 1956 at The Paramount Theatre in NY!

Oh it's so nice to hear this song without that crappy fake echo they used in the 50's reissues that lasted for decades. I sure played this record to death and dreamed and romanced. There will never be music like this again.

Is this the actual version that is used in The Godfather though? For some reason I remember the melody being played with more brass instruments
