Intubation is different in children because their larynx is higher than in adults. So the epiglottis is more visible when we depress the tongue. But their vocal cords are more fragile.
phly3r - you don't have a balloon cuff on paediatric tubes as the chords are actually the widest point of the airway with the trachea narrowing beyond them into a funnel shape. Also if you inflated a cuff in a childs airway then you could place pressure on certain receptors which could put the patient into cardiac arrest.
