Shortly before 2pm on Thurs, April 30, 07 calls came into fire alarm reporting a structure fire. Heavy fire was showing upon arrival and a 2nd alarm was immediately transmitted.

An interior attack was initiated but due to the fire getting a head start and the fire already in the attic, firefighters had to evacuate the building and fight the blaze from the outside.

  • God Bless You, I am so sorry for your loss.

  • Grafton and Uxbridge are both there wouldn't that be three alarm? That is what sucks about all these old houses in our communiteis there... Although they ipitimize the old New England charm, they are like tinder boxes and go up so fast. That person even lost their car. That sucks. I rmember one time seeing the building RIGHT NEXT to the Rockdale firestation go up in flames and even then it was in the attic before they could react. Bulding codes have come a long way. Our old factories are worse.

  • yea i remember this, i was on break at work when this happened, ( i worked right off of main st)

  • that house is now torn down

  • You're calling people liars and disrespectful and rude...who are you??

Our unit was one of six that was burnt, our dog was rescued for which I will be eternally grateful for - we lost a cat, in fact, 5 cats died that day along with two birds, 2 fish tanks, a guinea pig and a rabbit. One of the cats lived with us, the other four were ny neighbors - no human life was lost. I find your comments to be unjustified - you weren't even there.

  • I grew up on Church Ave in Rockdale (when it was still Church Street) and lived in one of those duplexes that lines the street across from the church. I've seen a lot of fires in that area. I remember the Whitin Mill in Whtinsville spewing green smoke in elematry school, the fisherville mill in Grafton burned so violently you could see it from RI and then I guess that Mill behind Main St in Uxbridge burned entirely to the ground too. That's a loss of our history and heritage.

  • There is no reason that anybody should have a problem with this video being posted. I know that it is one of the worst things for anyone to have to go through when their house burns but it does not mean that the scene shouldn't be documented for other people to see. This is no different than a clip that you might see on the news. These videos are not just for firefighters but for anyone interested in the fire service. There is nothing about this video that is offensive to anyone.

  • You're correct it was a 3rd alarm. And you couldn't be more on target about these houses. It's called "Balloon Frame" construction and the horrible thing about them is that they have these voids that run from the basement to the attic, which makes fire spread to the attic so rapid. And yes the buidling codes have come a very long way, including outlawing this type of construction on new buildings.

  • And trust me, I am not trying to be rude in any way. I feel terrible for the people who got burnt out of that place, and for everyone who has ever been involved in such a tragedy. Yet I do have to defend someone doing honest work, with no intention of humiliation or disrespect.

  • your dog was saved from the burning building why wouldn't that be something to be shot in a video? Yes, in fact, there are great shots of the fire and work being done on the fire. Excellent ladder positioning by the Grafton Tower, showing communication between the two FF's on the Uxbridge ladder and the ladder operator, a great shot of two guys working Chicago Loop's on the C-Side. Now just because you don't see it as something to learn from, doesn't mean that it isn't.

  • It is 1:57 seconds, with my family's dog taking up 10 or more seconds. How is that helpful at all?

You did not read the comments, liar: "Hey put that car out!" "Great video." You are disrespectful and rude.

1:57 seconds is not enough to learn anything. Be realistic. The majority of the video is not a fire.
