A group of more than 50 friends brought together by the death of a mutual friend challenged themselves to the longest continuous passing of a rugby ball.
From 5th to 16th May 2009, using the UK as their rugby pitch, they carried out a world record attempt to pass the ball over 550 miles and 265 hours visiting every Guinness Premiership rugby ground and ending at the Guinness Premiership final at Twickenham to raise £100k for the Richard Thomas Leukaemia Fund. Along the way they met up with various sporting celebrities including Steve Borthwick (England rugby captain), Steve Coppell (ex-Reading manager and England and Man Utd football legend), many of the the Newcastle Falcons, David Rees (ex-England rugby star) and Matt Banahan (Bath and future England rugby star).
The money raised by the Rugby March is being used to help Imperial College London and Northwick Park Hospital develop groundbreaking patient-specific and disease-specific leukaemia treatments and cures.
