The Sword Is Forged
"The Nazis converted their country from a flawed democracy to a fascist dictatorship in which the rights of the individual were trampled in the interests of the state. Institutions and organizations were warped to serve this purpose, none more than the police. At first, it was the Storm Troopers of the SA, who beat, intimidated, and killed those who opposed the regime. But something more was needed than simple thuggery and the police were co-opted. The Gestapo, the Secret State Police, was the organization set up to perform this function. By reputation its network of black-clad officers spread everywhere; yet it was a small organization--at its height in 1941 there were only 8,000 officers. Program 1 shows the power struggle between the worst of Hitlers henchmen, Himmler and Heydrich on the one hand, and Göring on the other. And it introduces us to a mysterious figure, Heinrich Müller, a career policeman who became the ice-cold leader of the Gestapo."

@leonardoH05 lol im a fucking idiot that needs education because I DIDNT SAY bush was like hitler...yea thats very logical....
herbalist2993 1 day ago
@leonardoH05 Apparently, so should you. The fact that you think Bush was as bad as Hitler proves you know nothing about the state terror of Nazi Germany. Bush was an incompetent fool, but at least people were allowed to be against the things he did.

@herbalist2993 A ridiculous exaggeration. Under Hitler, you probably wouldn't even dare to criticise the authorities. Those who did lost their job (if they were lucky), were tortured by the Gestapo or were sent to concentration camps.

@directorcj75 Yes, proud. That's what I meant to say. Although they took the concept of pride a little too far with the Third Reich. If they had won the war, the Germans would've behaved like gods, so it's a good thing they didn't.

@PersonalityDeficit87 I love the remark about the dogs. Yes, a lot of what you say is true. But it was the US Marshall Plan that 'bounced them back' after WW2 more than anything else. One has to respect the Germans , and I for one do. They seem to be a people who are respected rather than liked. (It's better than being both dislike and disrespected like the Freinch and the Dutch are). However, no one has the right to be arrogant - maybe proud is what you really meant.

@directorcj75 They have a right to be arrogant to some extent (Germans). They produced some of the greatest philosophers, musicians, innovations in weapons technology, cars and jets that the world has ever seen. They bounced back financially from total defeats in two world wars with incredible speed, and are actually holding up the EU's economy as we speak.
It's a pretty badass nation. Even their dogs are hard-core: Dobermans & Rottweilers.
