Blue Öyster Cult - what can I say? Probably my favourite band and one that I never tire of seeing live. This track, one of my favourites, comes from the tremendous debut album - "Blue Oyster Cult" released in 1973 and this Live version was later included on the LP "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees" in 1975. The band originated as a band called Soft White Underbelly (a name the band would later occasionally use in the 1970s and 1980s to play small club gigs around the U.S.) in 1967 in the vicinity of Stony Brook University on Long Island, New York. Manager Sandy Pearlman wanted the group to be the American answer to Black Sabbath. In 1975, a Melody Maker poll of critics voted Secret Treaties ( BOC's 3rd studio LP ) as the "Top Rock Album of All Time." The band have sold in excess of 25 million albums to date. Sadly, events ( such as my age and musical ignorance at the time!!! ) prevented me from seeing this amazing band till 1983. This is my small dedication to one of the finest live rock n' roll bands ever to grace a stage.I have no copyright on the music, pictures or sleeve notes.

  • Dude, I'm almost not listening anything else than Blue Öyster Cult for a year or more. I'm too young to see them in their first(and best) times, and I live in Turkey, so maybe I'll never have the chance to see them live. Just wanted to say, you're really lucky.

  • @k12274 thats a shame son. I suppose we take seeing the great bands for granted. I first saw BOC not in their best years but in '83, '84, '89 then on i more or less saw them every 3 or 4 years and once saw them twice in the same year. They are a great live band...

  • Great post. As you, a band that brings great memories from my youth. This was one of their best stage songs. Was privileged to see them twice in the 70's and in 1980 after I joined the Navy. I'm an old retired Navy vet now after 30 years but still can go back in time when I hear this.

  • @mgwilliams1000 thanks for the comment mate, yeah, listening to their stuff is kinda like takin' a trip in a 'time machine' eh?

  • I typed in "criticism of alan bloom" to find videos of said topic and i got this video. Fuck you Alan Bloom, rock and rolls rules!

This song is all I need to refute his reactionary, crypto-fascist bullshit.
