"The Very Best Historic Voices"

(25 Rare Recordings From Some Of The Most Important People At The Turn The 20th Century)

http://cdbaby.com/cd/seper2

I hope you won't mind my hawking my wares here a bit, but it really is a good deal for everybody. I've been collecting and restoring old historical public domain recordings (mostly speeches) for a number of years. Last year I finally decided to come out with a CD of what I thought were likely the best of the bunch. Individual tracks from the CD can be bought as MP3 downloads in the usual places (Amazon, CDBaby Napster etc.) And those who aren't interested in buying the CD or MP3's will still be able to at least hear short excerpts here from each speaker on the disc.

This collection of historic recordings is in the public domain to the best of my knowledge. I've done my best to track down any copyright holders, and as of this moment I've not been able to find any claimants. Copyright laws are not without loopholes however, and even the British National Library has been forced to remove CD's from their catalogues due to copyright infringement a time or two. Having said all that, as far as I'm concerned, the purchaser of this CD is granted permission to use any of the works therein for any purpose whatever so long as it relates to a work of art. This includes movie documentaries, school projects, televised programming, or most anything else you can think of.

What you cannot do is copy and resell anything here as part of an audio CD!

Most of these recordings come from old Edison cylinders.

  • @sthugh do they have a voice recording of chester alan arthur?

  • @jk22222sd No; he died a couple of years before Edison started making wax recordings. Up till then Edison recorded on tinfoil. Those were only good for a few plays before tearing to pieces and none survive today.

  • @sthugh what a pity well thanks anyways

  • @jk22222sd Yeah, he's one of my favorite presidents too.

  • @sthugh yeah, would they have any on say rutherford b hayes or levi parsons morton? Thanks for the information

  • @jk22222sd I think there used to be one of Hayes floating around, but I want to say that there were a lot of people convinces it was a forgery. I've never seen anything by Morton.
