Our Reality: Sex Ed in a Conservative Town

Tami Sanderson of Loveland, OH is outraged when her 13 year old daughter comes home from school with a virginity pledge and materials promoting abstinence from sex before marriage. The Governor of her state has refused all federal funding for these programs which don't work. But Tammy is having problems convincing her local school board to stop using these materials.

Abstinence only sex ed is unfair to the teen, and has nothing but malicious effects. They (we) need to know how sex works, and how to protect themselves. AO sex ed is like sending a soldier out to war without a weapon.

I took my virginity pledge in 6th grade and lost it when i was 15 that pledge doesn't do anything "I tell you"

people need to just stay out of other people's business. as long as i am not hurting these radical people, it's none of their business if i choose to have sex. I am nineteen and my parents raised me to practice safe sex. I have never done it! Meanwhile, girls at our local catholic high school who have been in the system their whole lives are giving birth. rediculous.
