World's Best Places flash interactive map caption
Hi guys, hope you are well. Welcome to the Worlds Best Place flash interactive map, one of the best map solutions on the web.
My name is Mat Siems and I will be showing you around the features of this incredible map application and game.
For those that arent viewing this video on my page, the URL is worldbestplaces.com/map
Let me first reload the page, to show you exactly what you will be seeing the first time around.
When loaded, the map will have the Top Countries button selected, meaning that you will be able to mouse over on any of the worlds countries.
For example, on rollover on this great country, I will have its name and the capital city appearing inside the tooltip. Ottawa, Canada, or USA, Washington
If I click and drag anywhere outside the countries I will be able to move the map around. Another way of navigating the map is using the arrows over here. Up and down, left and right. If you want to centre the map just click on the 0 Button.
Zoom in and out is quite easy as well, by clicking those navigation buttons or using the scroll on you mouse which can be quite handy as well.
You also have the view all button when you want to view the whole map from a click of button.
At the top you have some other navigation buttons that enables you to go directly to a specific continent. Will it be Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania or just going back to the whole world.
Of course all the details of those regions are shown at the bottom in the content Box. This includes a picture, the name of the continent, the important cities, the size, the population, a link and a short description.
If you are interested in the full description, just click on the view Full button or on the plus button on the picture. This will open the content box full screen and you will be able to read more of the selected information. While you are here, you can navigate to other regions by clicking the top buttons or just close the full screen option by using the view short button or the minus button on the picture.
This content box also works for each of the worlds countries. Indeed every time you will click a specific country on the map it will show you its information and a picture.
Once you learned enough about those countries you may test your knowledge by playing the game. Just click the new game button on the top right hand side of the map, and when you are ready, just start the game. What you need to do is to find the country on the map that is shown. For example we have [name of the country]. By clicking on the wrong country, an error message will show, and you will loose points. You have a limited amount of time to guess it right. Once it all goes green, it will automatically go to the next question. The faster you select the right country the more points you will gain.
There are 22 questions to be answered in total.
To quit the game, just click on the quit game button and it will go back to the map discovery mode, with all the top navigation appearing on the left hand side.
You may click on the top places to view the most interesting destinations on the world. Just click on any of them to view the details and a picture.
Same goes for the worlds top cities, best beaches regions and the most interesting natural wonders.
If you unselect the top countries, the mouse over countries functionality will be disabled and you will be able to move the map by clicking and dragging anywhere.
The last functionality I would like to talk about is the background option, which enable you to switch to a different background while you are navigating the map. For example have a palm tree photograph, or perhaps the mountains, the surfer boy or central London.
There is also the full screen feature activated when clicking on this button. You may go back to the normal mode by clicking the same button or the escape key.
The WBP flash interactive map was entirely designed, developed and project managed by Mat Siems and most of the pictures are under a creative common licence. To learn more about the Siems network, just click here. As you may see other solutions that we provide are Siems Production which make your dreams come true, Funky Success which helps you design your own lifestyle, yourBest100 for the top lists on the web and yourBestLondon to discover everything that London has to offer.
Hope you enjoyed this presentation. Have fun exploring the map and keep coming back as this project will be constantly updated with new features, new content, new videos and pictures.

All the best
