Demis POV:

"Im not that sho—" I stuttered as I turned around too quickly nearly knocking him over, now we were face to face. And boy was he yummy
"I was kidding, but here." I grabbed the plate as he flashed a set of perfect teeth. He noticed me staring at them.
"My father is a dentist" He announced casually.
"Oh I wasnt..I mean.."
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Nevermind."
"You look relaxed, I wish I could have worn sweats. My mother told me we were going to Target."
We started walking through the line, grabbing various foods. I just grabbed an apple and an applejuice.
"Fan of apples?"
"I come here often," I responded grabbing at my baggy sweats. "Oh ya, Big fan." I said after, oozing with sarcasm.
"Pardon me for asking but..why?" Joe said curiously. "
"Well they're kinda weird, textured wise, and they aren't that tasty in my opinion."
He let out a hearty laugh, and boy was it contagious.
"Hm, why are you laughing?" I said.
"Because I meant, why do you come here often?"
"Oh, ohhhhh! Brain fart...well it's kinda a long story." I responded as we began walking to a table.
"I've got time. But when did I say that I didn't want to sit alone..?" He asked sounding very serious.
"Oh..sorr-" But then he cut me off, "It was a joke, ---...wait what's your name?"
"Demi, and yours?"
"Joe."
"From what, Joseph?" I asked.
"No, Josephine." I was afraid to ask if he was kidding, just in case he wasn't. So I just said "Oh."
"Demi, I was kidding again. You are very gullible, this should be fun.
My cheeks turned scarlet, I could feel it. "Just playing. But go ahead.."
I told him all about my heart condition, beside the part that i'm technically dying.
"Wow..how serious is it?" He asked curious, boy was he curious.
"Well..I don't like talking about it." I didn't want to scare him away.
"Oh, i'm sorry." He said, embarrassed.
"No, no. It isn't you I just...I don't wanna..I don't really know. I mean, I'd like to tell someone that I won't live to my high school graduation because only a couple of my friends know..shit.." It slipped. How could I let myself slip and tell him??? Now all the things I want to do before I die will be done alone. All alone. Just me, myself and I. My little old dying self. Ugh!
