Lens in the eye focuses light on the retina. Opacities of the lens are called cataract. Cataract may be present at birth or occur due to injury, but the most common cause is related to age (Senile Cataract) and is the reason for visual disability of the elderly. Quick visual recovery, early ambulation are the characteristics of the modern day cataract surgery. Advanced Phaco emulsification is the most popular method to remove cataract these days at NIO and most of the surgeries at NIO are done under topical anaesthesia i.e. We use anaesthetic drops to numb the eye so that patients do not feel the pain during the procedure. It also avoids anaesthesia related complications. This technique is especially popular in patients who fear having to take an injection near the eye. The patients are usually discharged on the same day of the surgery. Wide range of intraocular lenses is made available for the patients to suit their needs. Our efficient counselors will assist you in making the appointments for the surgery. Premium Intra Ocular Lenses like Aspheric IOL, Toric IOLs and Multifocal IOLs etc are made available to our patients as per their needs.
