  • Billy is far superior to Elton. Not even close. They shouldn't be compare. Elton ONLY writes music. No lyrics. Billy writes music and lyrics so the musical expression that you hear is 100% from Billy. from elton it's only 50%. He can't write a lyric if his life depended on it. Billy's lyrics are real, blue collar. The real deal. This song is amazing. This is an underrated album. also on it is the Great Suburban Showdown and The Entertainer. Awesome!

  • @colincaetano Elton is like Salieri, but Billy ist Mozart! They both do very good Music, but Bill is a prodigy.

  • Amazing for an artist that you can find a monster of a song like this one buried in their B-sides. I have a feeling if this song was on one of his later albums, it would have been a huge hit for him. It has a country-ish tinge to it which doesn't detract at all from Billy's recognizable piano sound. Also the earnestness in his voice really shines here.

  • @colincaetano And!!! Elton has been playing the same stuff over and over again (i like it though) But Billy is just diferent every time i listen to him, yet i still can rcognize him in the radio even if i havent heard that song ::D..Just saying :D

  • @pianoman129 Great question. It made MY list But, as the last of the big time spenders, it seems I'm living in Summer Highland Falls, with the Entertainer. Cheesy, I know.

  • How did this not make his greatest hits CD? Correction: How did ALL of his songs not make it to his greatest hits CD? Long Live Billy

  • This song reminds me of something that would be emanating from the juke box of a southwestern bar, out in the middle of nowhere in America. Especially with the slide guitar section at 2:23. Beautiful.

  • This song should have been a hit. Such raw emotions... ranks right up there with the BEST piano rock of all time. IMO, I think Billy's music best's Elton John's in the sense that it's more personal, being that he writes his own lyrics AND music. I like Elton and all, but BIlly is a step above in my opinion.

  • "Streetlife" is such a polished record, and imho his most overlooked.
