  • I get that they're angry, as they should be but as pointed out by Mr. Hartmann they're barking and pissing on the wrong tree. It's not President Obama and it's not the Democrats - it's the corporations, special interests and those elected officials who have perverted and distorted the democratic process in America by allowing such interests to keep them from doing what they were elected to that's the real bogeymen.

  • the modern day tea partiers are really the "tories"

  • @igoronline Check out "Confessions of a Right-Wing Liberal" by Murray Rothbard if you want a good read on the origins and growth of Conservatism and Liberalism in the U.S.

  • @igoronline Right, original Conservatism is the U.S. aka PaleoConservatism is actually an outgrowth of Classical Liberalism. Some say that the Paleo-Cons are even a strain of Libertarianism (Classical Liberalism). The Imperialist "Conservatives" are that way because they took the European version of Conservatism which stressed militarism, order, tradition, and monarchy and imported it to the U.S.

  • @JoKo203 actually, the conservatives are the former imperialists, first from Britain then the US south, who tried to secede in order to keep their slaves. The desire for world domination never went away.

  • @chexrice Libertarians are the philosophical continuation of the 18th and 19th Century Classical Liberals, the Neo-Cons are former Trotskyites turned Conservative.

  • @chexrice I agree, Neo-Cons and libertarians are polar opposites in many respects. The Neo-Cons are for the continuation of America as Empire, Libertarians want to restore the Republic to it's proper role. Neo-Cons believe that the best defense is a good offense, we believe the opposite. Libertarians believe that truth is the best policy, the Neo-Cons are Machiavellian, they believe in the concept of the "big lie" to get the public to go along with their goals.

  • @JoKo203 What Mr. Hartman described is corporatism. Libertarians are opposed to corporatism. I went to a couple of Tea Party events and decided that the Tea Party events that I went to were populated with Neo-Cons and not Libertarians. I'm thinking we agree on the difference between neo-cons and Libertarianism?

  • @dpashore They kind of did stop buying it... That's what the Boston Tea Party was about.

  • I hate to point out the obvious, but 1) he keeps talking about America and the colonists country. the colonists had no country. Read Virginia Resolves. They were the "British North American Colonists" and were under a British King .

And, 2) he's trying to make out that the "colonists were angry". Not true. The colonists wanted lower prices, the business owners did not; and were controlling propaganda. If colonists didn't want that tea..then don't buy it. Company goes bust. BS is over.

  • @JoKo203 I reluctantly agree since I used to belong to a few of them. All they did was name call without trying to exchange ideas. I learned this from MSNBC. I used to watch Hannity and Colmes of Fox.

  • @airforcemax - We can sit down and find solutions and I believe they won't come from Washington, but from people such as you and I but the problem is how to get those solutions as part of the debate and actually implemented. In some areas, non-profits can do better, as free-market remedies aren't the cure-all for everything.
