WEEK #1 - Sunday February 20, 2011 - Introduction:
The first session will introduce the background of the topic, discussing the growth of the shariah-compliant finance industry, and the role of trade and finance in Islam both historically and during the contemporary Islamic Awakening. We will cover the syllabus, explain the technological options for students and how to obtain the coursework, and the readings will be introduced along with an outline of the overall intentions of the Social Science courses offered by Islam Policy in light of the organization's vision and purpose.
