These are the first two movements of Daniel Schnyder's Trombone Quartet: "1822: Rossini's Visit to Beethoven". This was performed at the 2005 International Trombone Festival in New Orleans. On trombone are Jim Pugh, Eijiro Nakagawa, Bruce Eidem and David Taylor.

  • i recognise eijiro and pugh but anybody can help match the names to the other 2 faces? thanks

  • Bruce Eidem is a NY trombone player. He's played in a bunch of Broadway Shows, the NY Trombone Conspiracy, the NewYorchestra, Wayne Shorter, Artie Shaw and Buddy Rich. Super nice guy. David Taylor is the bass trombone heavy in the trombone world. Played everything with everyone....Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, American Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Rolling Stones, Blood Sweat & Tears, JJ Johnson, Itzahk Perlan, etc, etc....

  • This rocks!

  • Music isn't supposed to be listening to, it requires something from the listener as well. If you want pure ear-candy, that's not art. It's easy to play nice sounding chords that sound "good" and not say anything whatsoever. But on top of that... is it just me or does this sound very good and stylish?

  • My God!! That bass note at 1:14 is unreal

  • 神

  • it should be sliding off anyway.. if you take good care of an instrument, especially a trombone, it'll last forever and never need repairs(minus the wear-and-tear of course)

  • you wash the slide with a rag then get the slide oil that comes in a spray botlle and apply a coating it can also help to put grease at the very bottom and very top and then it will be practically sliding off

  • I love the chord sequences from this piece, but the rhythmic patterns lend to the musicality quite a lot as well. It hints a lot at a Latin/Jazz feel, which I absolutely love, and since I play trombone, that makes this piece/performance absolutely fantastic in my books!

  • It's all in the wrist.

    And some Trombotine couldn't hurt.

  • check out the slide vibrato of the trombonist to the far left, how do you get your slide that smooth? tips?

  • Imcool is not cool anymore

  • Check Mnozil out, they have 7 players
