Yo, what's happenin', people? This is Low Carb Cory. I'm a health/wellness/fitness coach from Central Wisconsin. I love to watch basketball and football (go Packers!), play basketball, swim and hit the beach in the summer, weight-train 3 to 4 days a week and write, produce and record my own music. I am on a mission to get RIPPED - to get my bodyfat down to about 8% and get that lean, Hollywood'ish, leading man look that makes women go crazy and makes other men seethe with envy.

I started weight-training heavily in March of 2009 at what I now consider to have been quite a fat (20-24% bodyfat) 170 lbs. I had been taking the conventional advice that the health and fitness community gave me (eat 6 small meals a day, get multiple servings of grains, eat fruit, do cardio at the gym and work out 5-6 days a week) and you know what happened? I GOT FATTER. My ego wanted me to believe that I was putting on muscle, but I got a wake-up call when, after growing to 197 lbs (and although being stronger than ever), my belt, which I'd always comfortably worn on the second loop, started getting snug and chafing me on the FIRST LOOP. I was overweight, burned out, sore and tired as a dog. I decided right then and there that I was going to do something about this.

I went online and spent countless hours researching and reading opinions, advice columns, weight/fat loss forums and medical research papers...and you know what I found out my problem was? I was eating too many damn carbohydrates, drinking too many damn caffeine and working myself too damn hard. So what turned out to be something I thought was a waste-of-time "fad diet", LOW CARB EATING, actually turned out to be the answer to all of my problems. Dr. Robert Atkins was on to something.

Between the end of September, 2011 and the end of November, 2011, I lost 31 lbs, all the way down to my high school weight (165 lbs), using a combination of an Atkins-Diet-style "induction phase" (20g of net carbs a day, no more) and a 6-day water fast (drank nothing but water for 6 days, no food), followed by an Atkins-Diet-style maintenance eating plan that contained less than 40g of net carbs and intermittent fasting (only eating during a 2-4 hour window on any given day, usually after work, between 6:30 and 10:30 PM).

I have had so much success with my fat loss weight management that I have decided to share my wisdom, knowledge and experience with you! I love to research and learn new things in my spare time constantly, so I will be giving you great information on healthy eating, fitness, general wellness, supplements, workout tips and a number of other topics as often as possible! I want you guys to be the best you can be, because we all wish we could make the world a better place, and I truly believe that I have the power to do that by helping you get more fit, healthier and in the best shape of your life. I can't wait to help you reach your fitness, wellness and health goals!

Get EDUCATED, get INSPIRED and get GOING.

  • I totally feel you on the hypoglycemic. I would wake up, zero off switch, eating whatever the fuck kind of carbs in my pantry.

  • @PairoftheSocks Luckily I haven't woke up in a sweat for a loooooong time now. Having blood sugar under control feels much better than being moody and "up & down" all day long.

  • Nice sign lolol I have a question are these snacks healthy?(Quaker yogurt vanilla bar, nature valley almond, newtons fruit thins) & maybe if it isn't healthy my brain says its definitely more healthy than chips, cookies etc lol thanks :D

  • @maliaX3girl I won't eat any of those things, because they're made with wheat, and I'm gluten intolerant, as are 80% of humans (probably you included). Do you get moody, have loose stools, painful gas or stomach cramps when you eat grains? If so, you're probably are gluten intolerant, too. And all that stuff you asked about? It has added sugar, on top of the harmful wheat ingredients that already break down to glucose (sugar) when you eat them. I say they're no better than cookies.

  • @lowcarbcory You should check out her videos. freelea...she does raw vegan vids...I still eat meat just not every day. The carbs I do eat are not processed...so only potatoes, brown rice, and fruit. It's been working very well...great for digestion. Oh and about the salt...I do eat a little salt, but only in the morning.

  • @iamtashafierce And I would argue that fruit is not a fast digesting carb, on account of it's fiber content (depending on what fruit we're talking about). Now, white bread, white rice, table sugar, etc.? Those are fast carbs. Potatoes? It really depends on what kind of potato. White causes a bigger insulin spike than sweet potatoes (again, which are not really potatoes anyway). But eating fat with all of these things will void the insulin spikes anyway. Balance is the real key.

  • @iamtashafierce It's great that you eat the potatoes with fat (like butter), because that will render the insulin spike null. It's not the potatoes that make you full though - it's the butter. Trust me. Eating fat before bed always makes me sleep better, too. Organic peanut butter is amazing!

This freelea girl sounds crazy to me! Sounds like one of the potentially 20% of humans that can actually thrive on carbs. I am not included in that percentage. I respond terribly to carbs.

  • @lowcarbcory We can just agree to disagree...When i eat potatoes I always eat them with a little fat...this helps with insulin and keeps you full for hours. there is a girl on youtube named freelea who eat 5000 calories a day all carbs...raw fruit! Her body is crazy. I got some of my weight loss method from her...fast digesting carbs like fruit and potatoes is the way to lose weight fast. Meat takes a long time to digest but fruit takes about 24 hours

  • @iamtashafierce If you are an athlete, you need more salt than most people. Nobody should cut salt "out of their diet". Your body needs salt to operate properly. This whole "salt fear-mongering" thing in this country has to stop. But most people who don't exercise DO eat too much salt...because it's in all the GARBAGE, processed "food" they eat in MASSIVE AMOUNTS. Salt makes you retain water. It doesn't make you fat. And meat? I eat all the time and gain no fat. Carbs = to blame.

  • @iamtashafierce Potatoes spike insulin through the roof. They can be part of a weight-loss diet, but for insulin resistant people? No. Potatoes gotta go. You can lose weight just by cutting carbs significantly. You don't necessarily have to get rid of them completely. But I recommend not eating any wheat, rye, or barley due to gluten issues (this goes for 80% of humans), nuts and legumes in moderation, sweet potatoes in moderation (did you know they're not even really potatoes?).

  • I lost crazy weight by eating carbs...I ate potatoes and fruit every day, no meat and lost a pound a day. The key is to cut the salt out of your diet and cut the meat down. This really works. Potatoes fill you up for hours, low in calories and packed with nutrients.
