old kinetico full of rust

kinetico was new in 1991. Look at all the rust in this softener. Here is a great example of what happens to any softener on a water supply with heavy iron. This is why a softener needs new resin or replaced. An iron filter would also extend the life of the softener.

Poor maintenance, wrong sized unit. The advantage of a kinetico is you can treat most wells with heavy iron without using an iron filter that will just plug up in a couple years anyway. I just pulled a 19yr old kinetico out of a house that was still working but the customer choose to upgrade to a newer model. That unit was on 6ppm iron and 85 parts hard

Because the well of Kinetico was on before was bad. Never buy a kinetico from an unauthorized dealer.
