KALAMAZOO-- Despite having national coverage on ESPN2, a surprising attendance of 20,344 on a damp and chilly November and a record setting day for senior QB Tim Hiller, the Broncos were unable to hang on to their lead and fall 17-22 to Ball State.
Hiller set the school record for career passing yards, total offense and total offensive plays. He also threw four interceptions with a sack and a fumble.
The Broncos' defense held Ball St to 226 offensive yards and had four players with 10 tackles, including senior LB Austin Pritchard who surpassed 100 for the season, but mid-way through the 4th, Broncos up 17-16, Charlie Todd returned an 87-yard punt to seal the win.
Hiller finished 33-62 for 354 yards and Jordan White pulled in 11 catches for 121 yards.
WMU finished 5-7, 4-4 MAC and third place in the Mid-American Conference West Division--a win tonight would have made the Broncos bowl eligible for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
