The Latest Rights, the fourth full-length by the Strugglers, will be released on Ediciones Acuarela March 26th. The album features violinist Daniel Hart (John Vanderslice, St. Vincent), multi-instrumentalist Alex Lazara (The Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers), and a host of other accomplished North Carolina musicians.
The Latest Rights glides through its nine deftly crafted tracks with a calm confidence. Bickford tosses off sly line-breaks, equates youth's freedoms with adulthood's burdens, and addresses love, sex, and death all with the same penetrating sanity (to borrow Martin Amis's phrase), as if in the same breath -- one long, slow reflection.
