Carnival Splendor vs Mother Nature (Rough Seas)

Very high winds and rough seas kept Carnival Splendor from docking at Grand Turk on 11/19/08, so the day was spent as a "sea day". Continued bad weather was evident on the Lido deck where the mid-ship pool demonstrated some severe splashing for well over an hour, before the ship's crew eventually decided to drain it. Every inch of the mid-Lido had some salt water from the pool, including work areas behind the bars and into an elevator hallway. Water actually splashed up onto the next deck overlooking the pool. As you can imagine, the same effect was taking place in some passengers' stomachs.

I am pretty sure this was on the Transatlantic cruise fall 2008. We had hurricane force winds coming out of Rome. The Magrodome over the pool was closed, the pool was drained shortly after this video was taken. Was it all that rough? Well, I've been in rougher in a small boat.

Actually, this was during the two short sailings right after the Transatlantic, departing from Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale)

Cruises are not stupid at all, sometimes the weather does not turn out well. Cruises are the best to relax and see different places.

That just happened to us on the same ship in December 2011 off the coast of Cabo. It was interesting to see. Our cabin was on this deck and we walked out towards the pool to a big wave. Yes, it was not stupid at all. It was quite fun.
