http://www.theshouldercenter.com/ The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the human body. This also makes the shoulder the most often dislocated joint in the human body. Shoulder instability or an unstable shoulder is a general term representing many different types of problems. As the bony socket of the shoulder provides very little inherent stability, the shoulder relies on the tissues surrounding it for stability - labrum, capsule, ligaments, rotator cuff, and the shoulder girdle and core muscles that help position the shoulder blade. Tearing, stretching, or injury of any or all of these tissues can result in an unstable shoulder.

  • sometimes when my shoulder takes on a load, it feels like it comes almost out of the socket and it hurts. i heard this can be due to a overly stretched ligament. how can this be fixed?

  • @DINOCHIMP Pain and the sensation of the shoulder coming out of socket can be due to an overly stretched ligament along with several other possibilities, including a labrum tear. There are multiple factors to consider in making the best recommendation for your personally and we recommend an evaluation by a highly experienced shoulder specialist.

  • just had this done this morning. Still numb from anesthesia after 15 hours. Not looking foward to feeling this in the morning

  • @TheShoulderCenter hi i injured my shoulder (probably dislocated) when i was doing bench presses and after 3 months pain reduced but there is still a pain especially when i try to reach my back with my injured arm. this pain occurs especially in the morning and after weight training. my mr result (without artrogram) shows there is a suspecious tear in the posterior labrum. is it probably a tear? can i recover with physical therapy or is surgery needed? does labrum regenerate after it stiched?

  • not to excited to get this surgery....

  • Just had this surgery... hurt for the first week or so, give or take a day. Not fully recovered yet, get the stitches taken out this week, followed by physical therapy and another 3-4 weeks in a sling.

  • im getting this surgey in 9 hours!

  • I'm having this surgery in a few hours. Looks brutal! Lol

  • yo, how effective is the archthcopy shoulder surgery? are u going to have your old shoulder stable again? do you recomend the surgery? they say open surgery is with excellent results, so which to choose? tanx vry much

  • i used to play softball and now i show cattle and my right shoulder seems to have a pressure pain like a knife i will try to lift it up and its painful and if im sitting in a couch and i try to push u p to get out of the couch i have no idea what could have happend

  • I had a similar shoulder surgery, waited a year to start back working out and I think I over did it and tore something again. My shoulder is killing me pain wise it will get better one day and the next its back to hurting, like if I sling a stick for my dog it hurts for about 4 days. Think im going to have to go get it checked out again

  • @SlickTigerProduction I had my shoulder surgery a about 15 month's ago, the reason you probly can't raise your arm above you're head is because the arm is stiff. The pain will eventually go away, but if you tore your labrum really bad, you will need to have it repaired. Sometimes if the tear in the labrum is small, physical therape can be considered to strengthen the shoulder muscles so it won't pop out of place. If you have anymore questions Private message me.
