Many of you wanted me to do videos about Winter Protective Styles... In this video, I'm doing my hair in 2-Strand Twists which I keep in for a week or two, then take them out and wear a Twistout for about a week.

I also show you how I trim my hair using the "Trim While Hair in Twists" method.

Also, don't forget to tune into my Natural Hair Radio Show, "CurlsKinksCoils Natural Hair Talk with ShidaNatural", every Tuesday from 8:30 PM to 9:00 PM (est), but especially tune in this Tue. Oct 27th 2009... It's the 5-Question Quiz Contest Show, and will air live. I hope you've been listening to my radio show because the questions are based on the content of previous shows. 5-Question Quiz Contest Show happens the last Tuesday of every month, so keep listening so you can win!

  • Great Video! How often do you trim? Also, I'm trying to get my daughters waist length hair to all be even without layers. She's natural and I usually put her hair up in twist. Should I cut the very back about 3 to 4" until the top catches up? Her last trim was in June.

  • @honeycomb368 I trim when necessary which usually winds up being once or twice a year. The reason why I don't trim more often than that is because I don't apply any heat to my hair, and I keep my hair moisturized, especially my ends. As far as your daughter goes, it's soley up to you and her when and how much you should cut until all the layers are gone.

  • hey shida. thx for the vid. can you tell us the ingredients in the ashea shea butter pomade?

  • @bashmentgyrl00 This is what is stated in the list of ingredients: African Shea Butter, Ashea's Herbal Complex, Vitamins A, D, & E, and Fragrance.

  • Good to see you, your hair looks great as always, thick and pretty.

  • yea, it has thickened up and got longer. i'm amazed when i compare my recent videos to my older videos, and see how long my hair has gotten.

  • awesome video...thank you, as always for sharing!

  • Thanks for responding. I have heard naturals say that they trim every 8-12 weeks whether they have damage or not but I don't see the point. I've trimmed at least three times since I've been natural (May 2009) and I think I'll follow your lead and lay off. I don't use heat at all and I moisturize very well. So thanks for the tip. :-)

  • Thanks bs24

  • Glad to be seen! lol
