  • he's talking about his coming to realize that there is no god.. quit over analyzing.

  • Wish I could have heard this when I was 16 instead of when I was 42 ...

  • @jasontheboy If I take that you are talking about this song specifically, I believe he is talking about God. What I take from the lyrics is that Mr. Bazan is struggling with predetermined fate. If God is omnipotent and omniscient, and he created us, then how can we be "judged" by our actions if they were planned out all along? God wrote a "riddle that he knew they would fail." That's how I see it, at any rate.

  • @johnkraps I understand what you are saying; Jesus' vision for the world, political, economic, social seems to be the only way out of the madness. But God does exist. The command to love doesn't originate in the mind of man (read Kierkegaard's "Works of Love". I don't think Dave is talking about God proper but an version of God the comes from a fundamentalist view of scripture.

  • Even if God doesn't exist, the gospel is the only way I want to live my life. Love those who are un-lovable.

  • brave thoughts, mr. bazan. brave thoughts indeed.

  • I love this man.
