@jowemusic Stu Phillips said Jules was bugging the crap out of him in late 1960 to produce the Marcels, but they had no original material then. Stu finally said if they could get to NYC he'd record them, just to get Jules off his back. Marcels showed up out of the Blue 2 months later to Stu's GREAT surprise!! The Marcels AND Blue Moon almost never happened. The whole story is in the book Stu Who available AUTOGRAPHED by Stu at stuwho dot com

@jowemusic Their first hit, Blue Moon was recorded in a single take! I spent an hour with Stu Phillips last week - the producer who put the Marcels on the map 50 years ago this month. An amazing composer/arranger/conductor, he did the music for Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers & Knight Rider & 12 albums as leader of Hollyridge Strings. go to his channel at bsgkr2000 & show Stu some love - he's earned it. We wouldn't have had Blue Moon & the Marcels without him !!! chuck

WOW!!! great sound...is this the one on STARLIGHT?

The original group had two white members,
and sounded different from this group.
In fact , the version used in the movie
"Electra Glide in Blue" ,1973, is the original
group.
